Many users pointed out that the display looks dull and the colors look washed out. Some users compared it to the Galaxy S23 series and found the display to be better on the S23.

Historically, Samsung has shipped its devices with Vivid mode by default but this time it’s not the case anymore. Even when users try switching to Vivid mode, it does nothing.

Essentially, switching between the two modes makes no difference. A YouTuber did some testing and found out that the Galaxy S24 has a firmware issue that’s causing this.

The Galaxy S24 has around 86% DCI-P3 coverage which is the main culprit. Thankfully, this can be fixed via a software update and Samsung has confirmed this via Chat Support.

Samsung is Working on a Fix

A screenshot from Samsung Chat Support and a Galaxy S24 user shared by Forbes reveals that Samsung is aware of the issue and is actively working on fixing it. Here’s what the Chat Support had to say:

“We understand that this makes you uncomfortable, and annoying since this device is new. No worries, our Samsung developer team is currently working to fix this issue on your device. Rest assured that this coming software update will fix our problem on our Samsung S24.”

It is unclear whether this is a bug or was intentional since Samsung chose not to default to Vivid mode this time, which many Samsung users know and love. Regardless, it is good to know that the issue is getting resolved soon.

How soon? Upon being asked for a time frame, the chat support asked the user to have patience and turn on automatic updates.

However, Chat Support did say that a fix will be rolling out in the upcoming update. The next update on the Galaxy S24 series is the February 2024 security patch, which should be dropping in the first week.

Rest assured, the update will be on your Galaxy S24 soon and you will be able to enjoy the Vivid display to its fullest. Meanwhile, have fun with the Galaxy AI features on your Galaxy S24!
