Redmi Turbo 5 has launched in India, and it seems like it’s the phone for me since it costs so little and delivers excellent performance for gamers, so let’s see.

Design

The Redmi Turbo 5 comes with a Redmi Turbo Matrix and ring lights embedded in the camera, designed to do more than impress you. Inspired by racing aesthetics, they pulse with every move, notification, and music. It comes with 8 built-in colours and adjustable brightness for gaming, notifications, and incoming call reminders. Redmi offers three colours: asphalt black, nitro blue, and turbo white. The device weighs 204 grams and is 8.1 mm thick, which is good for a large-battery phone.

Display

The Redmi Turbo 5 comes with a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a 120 Hz adaptive sync refresh rate, which stays silky smooth and power efficient. It’s accompanied by a 480 Hz touch sampling rate and 2560 Hz instantaneous touch sampling rate with a peak brightness rate of 3500 nits with 25% APL, which claims to be a notch above the 3500 nits brightness with 1% APL. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i, and it’s a 12-bit panel with 68 billion colors on the display. It features 3840 Hz of PWM dimming, which claims to make the display better for prolonged usage. It features dual stereo speakers with 200% max volume.

Performance

The Redmi Turbo 5 comes with a Dimensity 8500 Ultra, which is the fastest chipset in the Redmi family, and it gets around 2.1 million in Antutu. It comes with LPDDR5X for the RAM, which is available on the 12GB RAM variant, and the UFS 4.1 storage type. It comes with WildBoost optimisation, which brings stable frame rates, stable high brightness, maintains the high brightness, etc. Turbo 5 also comes with the 3D Ice-Loop cooling technology. It brings a 5300 mm² stainless steel LHP and a graphite layer that delivers excellent performance without slowing down, and it comes with support for 120 fps gaming on 20+ games.

Cameras

The Redmi Turbo 5 comes with a 50MP IMX882 camera, which is a 1/1.95-inch sensor with an 8MP ultrawide camera accompanying the camera setup, and it comes with a 20MP front camera. When taking group photos, the phone intelligently switches to it. 8x wide-angle mode, and the phone can capture up to 100 photos continuously, even in the HDR mode, which is excellent. The phone supports 4K 60fps recording for high-definition videos. Thanks to the upgraded AI features like AI erase, which lets us erase without a trace, and AI recognition, which makes the photos look awesome.

Battery

The Redmi Turbo 5 packs a 7540 mAh battery, which can last you 2.3 days in moderate usage and can retain 80% of its battery capacity after 1600 charging cycles, which gives you 5 years of dependable performance. The phone also comes with 100W of hypercharging, which is an excellent feature since it can top up the phone from 0 to 50% in 31 minutes and 100% in 70 minutes and also supports 27W of reverse charging via USB. The phone also features Surge P3 and G1 chips, where the P3 is the charging chip while the G1 handles your battery for optimum performance.

OS

The Redmi Turbo 5 comes with HyperOS 3 based on Android 16 preinstalled out of the box, and the phone also comes with support for 4 major OS upgrades and 6 years of security upgrades, which is an excellent choice. It comes with lock screen personalisation and Hyper Island with Redmi Hyper AI and Hyper Connect for an ecosystem between Xiaomi and Apple devices. It also comes with a T1S tuner for signal tweaking and Bluetooth 6 and Wi-Fi 7 support on the device.

Pricing

The Redmi Turbo 5 is priced at INR 37,999 for the 8+256 variant and INR 40,999 for the 12+256 variant, and it comes with a 2k instant discount on major credit card banks like SBI, Axis, and ICICI, bringing the total cost down to 35,999 for the 8+256 variant and 38,999 for the 12+256 variant, which again is the best phone under 40k.
