Samsung Galaxy A16 rumored specs, changes, and pricing.
Samsung will soon launch the Galaxy A16, which is going to be the successor to bestselling devices A14 and A15. Here is a detailed overview of the rumored specifications, changes as compared to the previous generations, pricing, and our opinions on the same.
Expected Specs of Samsung Galaxy A16
Starting with the display, the phone will likely have the same AMOLED display with a 90 Hz refresh rate. The only change will be the size. Galaxy A16’s display size will be 6.7 inches instead of the last generation’s 6.5 inches. The resolution will remain the same at 1080p. The bezels, given Samsung’s history, will be thicker than the competition. The brightness will be 800 nits at peak, which is again, not the best for the price it is expected to arrive for.
The processor is still not confirmed. Rumors say it may arrive with Mediatek Dimensity 6300 or Exynos 1330. Both of which are not the best processors for the price. The competition already gives much better processors for an even cheaper price range. However, the phone should fare well for day-to-day tasks, and a fair bit of light gaming. Do not expect it to be suitable for the tech-savvy heavy users.
The RAM and Storage variants of the device are expected to be of 4 types:
- 4GB RAM 128GB Storage
- 6GB RAM 128GB Storage
- 8GB RAM 128GB Storage
- 8GB RAM 256GB Storage
The cameras are also not going to be very special, with the module just having three lenses, out of which one has a 50mp sensor behind it. Complimenting it are the ultrawide and depth cameras at 5MP and 2MP respectively. Based on the processor specs, the phone will only support 1080p recording at best. Again, not something for tech-savvy users.
The most highlighting feature of the device is going to be the number of promised updates. The phone is rumored to get up to 6 years of OS Updates, which is going to take the device on the latest software until Android 20!
The phone will again have a plastic frame and plastic back, to cut costs. It will have an IP54 rating for water and dust resistance as usual, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
Pricing
The rumored pricing is about INR 16,000 for the base variant, with prices going up to INR 21,000 for the upper variants. In our opinion, the phone will not be priced very aggressively and will easily be undercut by phones like the CMF Phone 1, iQOO Z9s, and realme Narzo 70 Turbo.
