Realme GT6 vs Xiaomi 14 Civi: Battle of the Killers!

After the launch of Realme GT6, the flagship killer segment is heating up again. Both Realme GT6 and Xiaomi 14 Civi offers a whole set of flagship features and other parameters while cutting costs on some other aspects, here we’re comparing and making your choice easier!

Realme GT6

Realme GT6 vs Xiaomi 14 Civi: Head-to-Head Comparison

Design and Display:

While the GT6 has a huge 6.78 inch display, Xiaomi is smaller at 6.55 inches. Display curves sideways on Realme while it’s a modern “Quad Curved” on Xiaomi.

Comparing features, Realme supports LTPO which means you can switch between 1-120Hz while it’s only 60-120Hz on Xiaomi. Both are good for usage and gets bright enough even in harsh sunlight.

Coming to design, the Realme features a glass back but with a “mirror” finish across the camera module which looks pretty substandard while Xiaomi has both vegan leather and glass back variants which looks and feels good.

Xiaomi has better in-hand feel by being lighter and smaller compared to Realme which is wider and taller. Realme also has a plastic frame compared to aluminium frame on Xiaomi.

It depends on what you prefer both for display and design.

Xiaomi 14 Civi

Performance Powerhouses:

Both GT6 and 14 Civi feature the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset which is now being used by almost all brands.

Both perform well in day to day usage and even while playing intense games like Genshin Impact. We noticed the Realme getting hotter and throttling a bit more compared to Xiaomi. It looks like Realme needs an optimisation update in terms of core performance.

Snapdragon 8s Gen 3

Comparing storage, both starts at a configuration of 8GB+256GB and goes upto 12GB+512GB. Both support LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.

Software:

GT6 comes with RealmeUI 5.0 based on Android 14 and Xiaomi comes with HyperOS 1.0 based on Android 14. Both promises 3 years of OS updates and 4 years of security patches.

Both are fluid with great animations, huge amount of features as well as the usual cons like bloatwares, glance lockscreen, ads via system apps and dark patterns while setting up.

Xiaomi 14 CIVI

HyperOS offers a wide variety of lockscreen customisation options which look amazing.

Realme has a smooth and rather bug free software with consistent updates. New animation engine improves things further.

It depends on which software you actually prefer and your needs.

Cameras:

The thing separating these from others in this price class are the camera hardware it comes with.

Both have a 50MP main sensor and a 2x optical zoom telephoto. While Xiaomi has a 13MP ultrawide, Realme comes with the usual 8MP.

Xiaomi has a 32MP dual selfie camera setup which is rare while Realme has a single selfie shooter.

Comparing real life samples, both are neck to neck in photos. Both have good highlights, colour reproduction, HDR and shadows. The 2x telephoto seems to take good portraits on both even though skin tone is a bit inconsistent on Xiaomi. Videos are good on both.

Selfies are better in Xiaomi with better HDR and highlight control. Night selfies are average on both.

In short, both are have good camera output even though there are some specific areas which are mainly software related which they can improve on in future with updates.

Battery and Charging:

Realme comes with a packed 5500mAh battery and 120W charging while Xiaomi has a rather small 4700mAh and 67W charging.

The real life battery life isn’t as different as the hardware of both these phones, which could partially be due to the relatively poor thermal management of Realme. Both are neck to neck in battery life though Realme has a slight edge. I will also trust the larger battery for better aging over years.

Realme will also charge faster within 20 minutes compared to 40 minutes on Xiaomi.

Price:

The 8GB 256GB variant of Xiaomi 14 Civi starts at ₹42,999 and 8GB 256GB variant of Realme GT6 at ₹40,999
