MediaTek has launched the MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro, marking a significant upgrade over the Dimensity 9500, introduced in September 2025. The new CPU offers numerous new features and significant performance improvements for the CPU, GPU, and NPU.

CPU

The Dimensity 9600 Pro features a completely new core architecture that uses an all-big-core design. Once again, the core design includes a new 2+3+3 core design consisting of 2x Arm C2 Ultra at 4.55 GHz, 3x Arm C2 Pro at 4.3 GHz, and 3x Arm C2 Pro at 3.1 GHz, resulting in a 61% power reduction in multi-core power consumption. Users will also get 17% higher single-core performance and 15% more multi-core performance thanks to the upgrades to the core’s architecture.
The Arm C2 Ultra gives 2 MB L2 cache per core, the C2 Pro high-performance one gives around 1 MB per core, and the C2 Pro for efficiency gives 512 KB L2 cache, which altogether contributes to a 21% larger L2 cache system versus the previous generation.
GPU

The new Arm G2 Ultra NX GPU, the Dimensity 9600 Pro, shines at gaming. The latest GPU delivers up to 27% higher peak performance while delivering 24% lower power consumption at peak performance and 18% faster ray tracing for higher console-grade graphics at up to 185 fps.
MediaTek has combined the GPU and NPU, which gives the full capability of graphics and neural computation, combining powerful rasterisation and ray tracing performance, backed by a unique dynamic cache architecture to yield best-in-class flagship gaming performance and superior super-resolution quality and speed with PC-level neural graphics rendering.
NPU

The second-generation Super Efficient NPU reduces power consumption by 40% for always-on AI. The NPU 1090 brings 51% faster LLM pre-fill performance and 55% higher token generation per watt, and supports complex on-device applications, including models up to 30B parameters. The NPU 1090 delivers double the INT4 computing performance of the previous generation.
A new hardware compression engine upgrade, KV-cache compression technology, reduces the LLM footprint size, alongside edge-training LLM technologies and support for Mixture of Experts (MOE) LLM on-device inference. The super-efficient NPU 2.0 gives background AI activity a dedicated always-on domain, so agents keep working continuously without draining the battery.
ISP

The Dimensity 9600 Pro features the Imagiq 1290 ISP and the new Dimensity AI Image Fusion Architecture, combining ISP and NPU capabilities to deliver advanced computational photography and content creation. It supports NPU-powered 60 fps motion capture and introduces 4K240 native slow-motion to the Dimensity platform, alongside 4K60 true AI colour tone, 4K120 cinematic log, and 17 EV imaging for high-quality photos and videos.
Modem, Multimedia, Memory
The 5G Advanced modem supports 5CC carrier aggregation up to 350 MHz (>7.4 Gbps), with in-modem AI (MMAI) enabling real-time network optimisations that reduce gaming latency. The MediaTek AI Connectivity Framework provides a 90% reduction in Wi-Fi roaming time, achieves zero-lag for live gaming streaming, and provides 30% better positioning accuracy and improved roaming stability.
The MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro also introduces support for the latest Bluetooth 6.2 standard.
Dimensity 9600 Pro is the world’s first smartphone processor to include H.266 hardware decode for streaming video. It also includes support for MV-HEVC for spatial video and improved power efficiency for video recording.
MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro supports an end-to-end BT.2020 (Rec.2020) colour pipeline, enabling an ultra-wide colour gamut from source to display and enabling studio-grade true-to-life colour accuracy. MediaTek’s PPST (panel power saving technology) and VHM (video hybrid mode) together deliver further power-efficiency gains, ensuring vivid, lifelike visuals never come at the cost of battery life.
The MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro is the first mobile chipset to support LPDDR6 and UFS 5.0. UFS 5.0 brings 2x faster read/write speeds than the previous generation, and LPDDR6 boosts memory frequency by 33% at the same frequency.
Availability
The MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro is set to compete with the 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro (which is set to launch this month too). The chipset is expected to power the Oppo Find X10 Pro Max and Vivo X500 Pro.
