OnePlus has now started rolling out Android 16 Beta 3 for the OnePlus 13 for those under its OxygenOS Developer Program, giving developers and interested users early access to the upcoming Android experience. OnePlus has also mentioned that the update is not meant for daily use and has advised users to do a data backup before updating.

Here are the improvements, issues, how to update, fixes to issues during the update, and instructions from the OnePlus Community.

What’s New in Android 16 Beta 3

UX Improvements

  • New animations when you swipe to go back
  • Improved notifications for making it easier to track things like food delivery or rides seamlessly
  • New rules for apps reading your fitness and health data
  • Some old font settings have been removed, and large-screen layout handling has been improved.
  • Android now checks app actions more to avoid risks
  • Apps can now share encryption keys more safely
  • New ways to check app speed and resource use

Known Issues

  • The camera may show a black screen in some cases
  • Sound might not work with other devices
  • Some system apps can crash
  • Message notifications may bug out
  • Some apps may not work properly

How to Update

  • Works only for OnePlus 13 phones with version 15.0.0.703 or below
  • You have to update via local install
  • NA, EU, and IN users must follow different steps
  • All data will be erased, so make sure to back up your data and then proceed

If the local install doesn’t work:

  • Try disconnecting Wi-Fi and mobile data
  • Clear Software Update app storage
  • Try again with all networks off

Currently, the build of Android 16 beta 3 for OnePlus 13 has been taken down temporarily due to a major bug, according to Winkey W, the Head of the OxygenOS Operation Team at OnePlus. He mentioned that they will update the download links after fixing the bugs and issues.

OnePlus has also mentioned that the battery level should be above 30%, and at least 4GB of storage should be free before updating. Note that the OTA upgrade method only works for India and EU versions of the phones. Only NA version phone users have to go for downloading the latest ROM package and doing a local install.
