Nothing officially unveiled the Nothing Phone 3a series on March 4. The series comprises the standard Phone (3a) and the Phone (3a) Pro. While there are some improvements over the predecessor, the changes are quite iterative. Read the post until the end to find out more about the Phone (3a) series and its differences.

Design and Appearance

Nothing has upgraded the design of the Phone 3a series. The glyph light interface has downgraded a bit compared to what we used to get earlier. The Phone 3a comes with horizontal camera placement, while the Phone 3a Pro presents a polarizing design. The company has included an additional “AI Integrated Essential Key,” which is used to perform various actions like screenshots, camera shutters, etc.

Processor & Performance

The Nothing Phone 3a series is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen3 processor. The processor choice is quite substandard when compared to the competition. The Phone 2a series featured the Snapdragon 7s Gen2, hence the company approached for the third-generation chip. The Pro variant appeared on Geekbench, where it scored 1208 points in single-core score and 3325 points in multi-core score. The processor supports Adreno 810 GPU.

Display

The display on the Nothing Phone 3a series is a 6.77-inch FHD+ 120Hz Flat OLED panel. It comes with Panda Glass protection from the front. The display is subpar to what the competition offers. It supports a flexible refresh rate varying between 30Hz and 120Hz using LTPO technology. The phone offers a typical brightness of 800 nits and a peak brightness of 3000 nits, which is sufficient for outdoor visibility.

Battery & Charging

The Nothing Phone 3a series boasts a 5000mAh battery and 50W fast charging. Again, the company has not upgraded the battery tech based on Silicon Carbide material, which several other brands have opted for. The new battery tech makes the phone slim, lightweight, and increases battery capacity without compromising battery life.

Cameras

The cameras on the Nothing Phone 3a series have been upgraded and are the most differentiating factor between the two. Speaking of the Phone 3a, it includes 50MP (Main: OIS) + 8MP (UW) + 50MP (OIS). There is a telephoto sensor that provides 2x support. Similarly, the Phone 3a Pro has a 50MP 3x Periscope sensor. The Phone 3a and 3a Pro have 32MP and 50MP selfie respectively. One disappointing part of the camera is the lack of 4K 60 FPS video recording support.

Nothing OS Software

The Nothing Phone 3a series comes with Android 15-based Nothing OS 3.1. The phone is equipped with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage type. This is again a substandard approach when other brands are moving towards UFS 3.1. However, the Nothing OS is quite smooth to use, and the lock screen customisation adds a unique touch to it.

Miscellaneous

The other features include an IP64 rating, an In-display fingerprint scanner, and stereo speakers delivering good audio output. In addition, the haptic motors are quite underwhelming for the price they offer.

Nothing Phone 3a Series Price

The pricing for the Nothing Phone 3a series is as follows:

Nothing Phone 3a:

  • 8GB RAM + 128GB Storage: ₹24,999
  • 8GB RAM + 256GB Storage: ₹26,999

Nothing Phone 3a Pro:

  • 8GB RAM + 128GB Storage: ₹29,999
  • 8GB RAM + 256GB Storage: ₹31,999
  • 12GB RAM + 256GB Storage: ₹33,999

There is an additional ₹2,000 bank offer, which will reduce the price further. According to us, the brand should have given the 256GB base variant, at least for the Pro model. In addition, the lack of UFS 3.1 makes it quite an underwhelming deal.
