OnePlus has launched the Nord CE6, and it’s a downgrade compared to its predecessor in performance and camera. While the other departments have gotten a decent upgrade, the price would have been lower, but due to the RAM shortage, it has gone up. Let’s see if it’s good.
Design
The OnePlus Nord CE6 brings a new camera design again, and the camera design looks similar to the one we found on the OnePlus 15 and 1.7 mm camera bump for a smooth experience while scrolling or keeping the phone in a tablet, and the phone also has golden-ratio curves for an awesome experience while holding the phone. The phone comes in three colours: fresh blue, lunar pearl, and pitch black, and the phone has IP66, 68, 69, and IP69 K for water and dust resistance.
Display
The Nord CE6 comes with a 6.78 in. display with FHD+ resolution and a 144 Hz refresh rate AMOLED display with 1800 nits of HBM and 3600 nits of peak brightness, and thanks to the touch reflex chip, it gets a massive 3200 Hz of instantaneous touch sampling rate, which is awesome, and 1.6 mm bezels for an immersive view of the display, and it comes with Crystal Guard display protection. According to OnePlus, it is on par with Victus+ display protection, with 300% better scratch resistance and 160% drop resistance in OnePlus lab testing.
Performance
The Nord CE6 uses the 7s Gen 4, a step down from the previous 8350 Apex, but OnePlus has optimised it well for gaming. The phone gets to 144 fps in popular games and 6 hours of smooth and steady BGMI performance, and thanks to the new Touch Reflex chip, it gets a 3200 Hz instantaneous touch sampling rate, which means every tap will respond very fast, and they also have a 6-axis gyro, which brings a 13 ms gyro response boost and 52% improvement in gyro anti-shake boost. For thermal management, it has a 5000 mm² vapour chamber and a 33000 cm² total heat dissipation area.
Cameras
The Nord CE6 comes with a 50MP sensor with OIS, which is again a downgrade since the sensor is actually smaller than the previous generation, so the device might struggle a bit in low-light photography. The 8MP ultrawide has been replaced with a depth camera this generation, which isn’t good. The selfie camera gets an upgrade to a 32MP sensor, which brings support for 4K video recording, which means both the selfie and main camera can shoot videos at 4K 30fps, and the phone comes with support for 4K motion photo.
Battery
The Nord CE6 comes with a massive 8000 mAh battery, which is an improvement from the 7100 mAh battery, which helps the phone to last for 2.5 days, and thanks to the 80W SuperVOOC, it can get 1.5 hours of game time after charging the phone for 10 min, according to OnePlus Labs, and it comes with all-scenario bypass charging and support for 27W reverse charging, which means if you charge the Nord Buds Pro 4 for 10 min, it will get 12 h of playback time.
OS
The Nord CE6 comes with OxygenOS 16, based on Android 16, pre-installed out of the box. Thanks to OS improvements, the phone behaves very smoothly. According to some insiders, the device will receive just 2 major OS upgrades and 4 years of security patches. This is a downgrade from the CE 5, which had 4 major OS upgrades and 6 years of security patch support. The device will receive Android 18. If OnePlus has done cost-cutting on hardware, that is understandable, but they should not reduce software updates.
Pricing
The OnePlus Nord CE6 is priced at ₹29,999 for the 8+128GB variant, and the 12+256GB variant is priced at ₹32,999. The device gets a ₹2,000 instant discount on HDFC and Axis Bank credit EMI, and Axis Bank credit full swipe, no EMI, gets a ₹1,500 instant discount, which brings the total down to ₹27,999 and ₹30,999, respectively
