Samsung MX officially announced that they’ve been falling behind in battery innovation and are now running “strict quality tests” to get this tech into our pockets. VP Moon Sung-hoon revealed that Si-C Batteries will make it into the Galaxy S Series, which might be next year’s S27 Series, according to other rumours.

With Silicon Carbon Battery Tech, Samsung can finally switch from its 5,000mAh battery in the S-series after a long time, while making phones thinner and delivering higher battery life and higher energy density. Si-Ci batteries can also perform well under cold-weather conditions and reduce the risks of swelling.

Si-C anodes outperform graphite for capacity (e.g. 6,000mAh+), while having faster charging support and better durability.

Galaxy S27 Series leaks point to a 5,500mAh battery with this silicon carbon technology. This is rumoured to be under testing and will be executed only after rigorous checks.

This change to the Silicon Carbon Battery will also allow for competition against the large battery flagship from competitors like OnePlus.
