Unlike OnePlus’ smartphone offerings, its smartwatch offerings right now are quite underwhelming when we look at the Galaxy Watch or the Pixel Watch. But not anymore. OnePlus is reportedly launching the OnePlus Watch 2 with WearOS on-board which is the same OS running on the Pixel Watch and even the Galaxy Watch.
OnePlus’ first generation watch, the OnePlus Watch was quite an underwhelming product mostly due to the OS it was running on. The watch shipped with RTOS on-board, which, simply put, is an OS similar to what we have on fitness trackers.
Thankfully, OnePlus has taken feedback and seems to be getting serious about the smartwatch market. The OnePlus Watch 2 will be running on WearOS 4. WearOS will greatly improve the OnePlus Watch in terms of both usability and functionality.
Updated on February 21, 2024: OnePlus has officially confirmed that the OnePlus Watch 2 is launching on February 26 at 8:30 PM in India or at MWC ‘24. The watch will boast a 100-hour battery life in Smart Mode and will be available in two colors: Black Steel and Radiant Steel. You can read the full article on the OnePlus Community post.

OnePlus Watch 2 Launch Date
- The OnePlus Watch 2 is launching on February 26 at 8:30 PM IST.
Max Jambor, a tipster on X (Twitter), suggests that the OnePlus Watch is set to debut at the MWC 2024 which will be held between February 26 – 29.
Previous leaks suggested that the OnePlus Watch would launch on January 23rd alongside the OnePlus 12 series and the OnePlus Buds 3. However, this seems to be incorrect since OnePlus has not teased the watch yet. For context, all the other products have already been teased.
This new leak further makes it clear that the OnePlus Watch is indeed launching at MWC 2024, in February. MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2024 will be held in Barcelona, Spain, and will also be streamed live.
Last but not least, the OnePlus Watch 2 was also spotted on the BIS certification website last month with the model number OPWWE231. For those who are unaware, a BIS certification means that the launch of a product is imminent.
OnePlus Watch 2 Specs
The Oneplus Watch 2 has been in the talks ever since the leaked renders of the device were released in November 2023. The renders reveal that the watch will follow a similar circular design to its predecessor. Have a look at the design below.
The same renders also reveal some of the key specifications of the Watch 2. The watch will sport a slightly larger 1.43-inch AMOLED screen with some noticeable bezels around. There are also two physical buttons on the right and a speaker grill on the left.
Under the hood, the Watch 2 hosts a Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chip, which is the same chip used inside the Pixel Watch 2. Most of the heavy processing will be done by this chip but an additional BES 2700 co-processor has also been added for low-power tasks.
The dual-chip architecture should help increase the battery life of the Watch 2 since WearOS is infamous for battery hogging. For reference, the original OnePlus Watch could last for up to 5 days with sleep and SpO2 monitoring turned on. But since the Watch 2 will be running WearOS, we can expect at least 2 days of battery life.
Speaking of WearOS, the Watch 2 will finally have an app store thanks to WearOS. Besides, you will also be able to enjoy features like Quick Message replies, Google Assistant, Google Maps, and perhaps even eSIM support if there’s an LTE model.
That’s all we have for now. We will update this space once we get more information about the watch.
OnePlus Watch 2 Price
Since we are talking early, there is no information on the price of the OnePlus Watch 2. However, given the upgrades over its predecessor, expect the Watch 2 to be priced on the higher side.
The original OnePlus Watch was launched at ₹14,999 or $159, which was a bit unjustified for the features it offered. Now, with the OnePlus Watch 2, we can expect the price to be hiked to around ₹23,000 or $300.
Do note that these are just our speculations and the price is yet to be announced.
