So, Google Launched the Pixel 9 Series in India, which includes Pixel 9 and 9 Pro, Pro XL, and a folding phone named Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The 9 Series Replaces The 8 Series And Fixes Some Issues The Models Seem To Have Had Too.

Google Pixel 9 Series Design

The Google Pixel 9 series has received a camera layout design upgrade. The Pixel 9 series now features a circular camera system, while the Pixel 8 series had a rectangular camera design. The weight of the phones has increased by only 5-10 grams, but the thickness of the phones has dropped from 9mm to 8.5mm. Additionally, the phones now have an IP68 rating.

Display

The Pixel 9 Boasts An Oled Screen With 1080P Resolution And HDR10+ Certification And A 120Hz Display To Keep The Scrolling So Smooth It is Also Protected By Gorrila Glass Victus 2 Which Is A Improvement Over The Pixel 8 Which Has Gorrila Glass Victus. It Also Features A 2700nit Brightness Which is an improvement over the 2000nits peak on the 8 series. Still, it lacks the PWM dimming and is limited to 240hz PWM dimming. I hope pixel 10 gets a better PWM dimming, and it is the same with all the pixel 9 Variants.

The 9 Pro Boasts an Oled Screen With 1280P Resolution And 3000nits of peak brightness which is an improvement over the 8 Pro which has 2400nits peak HDR10+ Certification And A 120hz Display Which LTPO Of 1-120hz Based On The Content Which Is Being Consumed It Also Has Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

The 9 Pro XL Features A Bigger Display Than The Others 6.8inch Display vs The 6.3 But There are No Changes in The Display Other Than The 9 Pro So you have LTPO And 120hz Display And Gorilla Glass Victus 2

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold Features an 8Inch Internal Display With UTG Glass And LTPO Support And 2000P Display And HDR10+ Support With 2700nit Peak Brightness The 6.3 Outer Display Is Protected By Gorilla Glass Victus 2 And It Lacks LTPO Of The Inner Display.

Performance

The 4 models come with a Tensor G4 chip, which is around 20% more powerful than the prior generation Tensor G3. The Pixel 9 Pro and Pro models are equipped with Vapor Cooling Technology to keep the phones cool during prolonged usage. Additionally, the chip features a new modem, which should improve the modem issues that have existed since the introduction of the Tensor with Google Pixel. The chip also boasts newer generation cores built for performance. However, it is uncertain how the chip compares to the competition. The base RAM variant for the Pixel 9 has been increased to 8-12GB, while the Pixel 9 Pro comes with 12-16GB of RAM.

Camera

The Pixel 9 features a 50MP + 48MP (ultra-wide) camera setup, which is an upgrade from the Pixel 8 that has a 50MP + 12MP setup. This results in higher resolution for the ultra-wide shots. However, one downside is that the phone lacks a telephoto camera, which is a missing feature considering the price at which it is being marketed.

Moving on to the Pro phones, they have a similar camera setup to the previous iteration, the 8 Pro, with a 50MP wide main camera, a 48MP ultra-wide camera that can also take macro shots, and a 48MP 5X telephoto lens capable of 30X zoom. Additionally, HDR+ now supports panorama shots.

The Pro Fold also brings some camera improvements over the previous generation. It features a 10MP front camera, a 10MP inner display camera, an 8MP camera, a 48MP main camera, a 10.8MP telephoto lens with 20X zoom capability, and a 10.8MP ultra-wide camera. Moreover, all the phones have special features like “Add Me,” which adds your face to the photo you’re taking, and “Made U Look,” which focuses on making your children look into the photo. The devices also have Video Boost, which can upscale your videos to 8K resolution from 4K. However, it’s important to note that the video boosting process occurs in the cloud, which may pose a risk to your data.

Battery

The battery sizes have been increased from the prior generation for the phones. The battery capacity is 4700mAh on the 9 and 9 Pro, and the Pro XL has a 5060mAh battery. However, the Pixel Pro Fold has received a downgrade from 4800mAh to 4650mAh.

The charging speeds have also been increased for the phones. The phones now support 45W wired charging, which should go from 0 to 70% in 30 minutes for the Pro XL. The Pro takes 30 minutes to go from 0 to 55%. Additionally, there is 23W wireless charging for the Pro XL with the Pixel Stand, and 21W for the Pro, and 15W for the Non-Pro.

OS

All the phones come with Android 14 preinstalled and are eligible to receive Android 21 due to Google’s offer of 7 generations of OS upgrades. Pixel drops should also receive monthly security updates to keep the phone up to date.

Pricing

The Pixel 9 Starts At 80000 The Pro Is Priced At 110000 And The Pro XL At 1.25Lakhs For the 16/512 Model And 1.45L For The 16/512 Variant We Don’t Have Pricing For The Pro Fold But We Will Update U When We Get The Pricing Info

There Are Some Offers If you decide To Get A Pixel 9 you get Pixel Buds Pro 2 For 8000 With The Devices And a 4000 Instant Discount For The Pixel 9 And 10000rs Instant Discount For The Pro And Pro XL.

Verdict

The Pixel 9 doesn’t really make sense because of the pricing. We don’t get a telephoto lens for 76k, whereas the competition offers a telephoto lens, better battery life, faster charging, and a better system on a chip (SoC).

The Pro  model are the sweet spot if you want a Pixel phone because you get faster charging than the Pixel 9 and a proper telephoto lens. However, the Pro XL seems overpriced due to the pricing Google has set There are no differences between Pro and Pro XL except for the bigger screen. At the 1.2 lakh range, you can get better chipsets and faster-charging phones.
