Samsung officially released beta 1 of One UI 7.0 based on Android 15 a few days ago and is currently available to download for S24 series users. Being one of the last brands to start the beta testing phase of Android 15, everyone was expecting major changes and Samsung did not disappoint at all. There are a lot of new features, visual overhauls, and other improvements to be seen from Beta 1. Here we cover everything related to One UI 7.0!

Contents
Visual ChangesOther changes1. Animations2. Icon theming3. Wifi icon4. Implimentation of blur5. Music player

Visual Changes

Samsung has introduced a very huge UI change with One UI 7.0. Many of the changes are visual related. These include the new quick settings panel which is wildly customisable just like what Apple introduced with iOS 18. By default, the music player is also part of the new quick settings panel. We can add any new folder, enlarge any settings, or remove them from quick settings with One UI 7.0

Samsung has also made the left swipe to the bottom be used to access notifications and the right swipe to the bottom for quick settings similar to iOS, HyperOS, and ColorOS. You can revert back to the old option as well.

The app drawer has gone vertical with One UI 7.0 from horizontal in previous versions like most other manufacturers. This looks way better than the cluttered mess it was before. There is an option available to switch back to the previous horizontal app drawer as well!

Other changes

1. Animations

The leap in animations by Samsung with One UI 7.0 is great. The software has gone way smoother and the subtle implementation of animations while closing an app, opening recent tab, etc has improved a lot to the point it’s better than iOS and on par with ColorOS.

2. Icon theming

The monet theming icons which were inconsistent and unsupported for some apps have been switched to another coloured theming which themes all the icons irrespective of whether it’s supported or not like the monochrome icons on Nothing devices. This makes the overall UI look better.

3. Wifi icon

With One UI 7.0, the wifi icon shows the version of wifi used (wifi4/wifi5/wifi6/wifi7) which came to devices like Pixel with Android 15.

4. Implimentation of blur

The implementation of blur has been refined and used in a better way with One UI 7.0. It looks a lot better than One UI 6.1.1 in the app drawer, quick settings, recent menu, and even on the lock screen.

5. Music player

The music player of the lock screen has been upgraded to show the song cover over the entire screen similar to iOS. Another implementation that looks great in my opinion and this is done better than what is in iOS 18.

The first beta of One UI 7.0 is looking very promising so far. Even though Samsung faced a lot of criticism lately as they went from one of the fastest manufacturers to give Android 15 to one of the last. The delay might be for a very good reason. The UI changes, both visual and internal have made OneUI a more appealing software for the masses as well as the veterans. The next beta versions of OneUI will be launched in the coming weeks for both the Galaxy S24 series as well as Galaxy Z Fold 6 series.

New themed icons in OneUI 7.0

The stable One UI 7.0 update based on Android 15 will come only in January as per rumours along with the newest flagship series, that is Galaxy S25 series. This is very different from their previous decisions where they launched OneUI with the latest Android to almost all devices in the portfolio before the flagship launch and equipped it with OneUI x.1 version which has many more features.

I am sure the delay for One UI 7.0 will be worth it as it is one of the major overhauls we have seen from OneUI over recent years after the initial switch from TouchWiz to OneUI.
