HONOR makes some of the most value-for-money laptops in India, with top-class build quality, specifications, and most importantly price. Buying a laptop is a big decision for many of us Indians out there. Therefore, considering the after-sales service is also extremely important.
Recently, smartphone OEMs that launched their laptops a couple of years ago are exiting the market and denying any after-sales service for the laptops. This includes realme and even Xiaomi.
Thankfully, that is not the case with HONOR, yet. So, is the after-sales service of HONOR actually good? Should you buy HONOR MagicBook laptops in India? Let’s understand in the light of our after-sales service experience.
Note: After-sales service is subject to change from person to person.
The First Experience
The first experience with HONOR’s after-sales service had its ups and downs. Initially, when my laptop’s touchpad and fingerprint sensor malfunctioned, I reached out for support.
I contacted the after-sales service team, and the representative I spoke with was attentive and responsive. However, despite the promising start, the process hit a snag. After submitting a video to verify the issue and filling out a detailed form, I awaited door-to-door service.
The pickup of my laptop was swift, but the repair center’s distance (1500+ KM) from my location resulted in a considerable delay. The service center that operates HONOR laptops is in Ghaziabad. It took over five days for my laptop to be fixed and returned to me, leaving me without it for a long time.
While the final resolution was satisfactory, the lengthy repair time and the inconvenience of having only one service center for HONOR MagicBook laptops in India dampened my overall experience.
Despite this setback, I was impressed with the after-sales service, mostly because my laptop was working well now.
The Second Experience
The second experience with HONOR’s after-sales service left much to be desired. It began when my laptop abruptly powered off and refused to turn back on or charge, compounding the issue with a malfunctioning fingerprint sensor. Despite the device mysteriously turning on after three days, I opted to send it to the Service Center regardless.
Every stage of the procedure was plagued by delays and inefficiency. For HONOR to pick up your laptop, you need to:
- Call them.
- Send an email for verification of the problem.
- Show the problem on a video call on WhatsApp which takes 2 days.
- A Google form will be sent for additional evidence and pickup details.
- After completing and submitting the form, there will be further delay in scheduling the pickup of the laptop, which will take two or three more days.
To add insult to injury, I received a call demanding an additional 700 INR payment for repairing the fingerprint scanner. Even more concerning was their initial reluctance to address the underlying issue of the rusty motherboard, which was the root cause of the power-off problem. It was only after my insistence that they agreed to clean it.
The main letdown was the long service period, which lasted an astounding 20+ days, although the entire operation took more than a week. The already drawn-out process becomes worse since there is only one service center in India that handles HONOR laptops.
Overall, the second experience with HONOR’s after-sales service was a frustrating and disappointing affair, mainly due to the prolonged wait times.
Should you Buy HONOR MagicBook Laptops in India?
So, while I would still recommend HONOR laptops for their quality and features, it’s essential to be aware of the potential for extremely long repair times and limited service center options. Hopefully, the situation will get better since HONOR is taking the Indian market seriously now.
It is also important to note that many users are having a great experience with their HONOR MagicBook laptops without any issues. If you encounter any issues, you can reach HONOR’s after-sales service at 18003098970 or through email at customersupport@psavglobaltech.com.
