realme 14 Pro Overview: Impressive or Nothing New?

realme has announced the realme 14 Pro, launched on January 16th as an upgrade to the 13 Pro. According to the specifications, they changed the camera and CPU and increased the battery for more battery life. Let’s discuss everything in details here.

Design

The realme 14 Pro gets a stunning, unique pearl design for the backside of the smartphone, and the glowing pearl particles create a shiny silk halo for a good look. If the phone’s back panel drops to 16 degrees or lower, the smartphone will change colour from white to blue and will reverse itself after the temperature for the smartphone increases. The phone has an Ocean Oculus, which provides a seamless transition between the camera and the body of the smartphone,

The device, still featuring a monstrous 6000 mAh battery, weighs just 179 grams with a thickness of 7.5 mm for that sleek design while providing you with good battery life and the phone has IP69 for water and dust resistance. The phone comes in 3 stunning colours: Pearl White, Jaipur Pink, and Suede Grey. By the way, the Jaipur Pink colour is only for Indian customers.

Display

The realme 14 Pro features a 6.77″ display with 1 billion colours on display and a local peak brightness of 4500 nits, which has been increased from 2000 nits to 4500 nits, but this isn’t the real brightness figure you will get while using the smartphone. This brightness would only be on a few pixels for a short time while watching HDR content. The typical brightness, which is the brightness for most of the time, has been increased from 600 nits to 800 nits which would mean that the outdoor visibility of the smartphone will be improved with this smartphone,

The phone has the same AI eye protection technology as the GT 7 Pro, which is the flagship phone from the realme that detects eye fatigue and adjusts the screen colour temperature. The PWM frequency has been increased from 2160 Hz on the 13 Pro to 3800 Hz on the 14 Pro for good eye protection on display. The phone features an under-display fingerprint sensor, dual speakers, and dual mics for the phone.

Performance

realme 14 pro

The realme 14 Pro features a Dimensity 7300 chipset, which is an improvement over the 7s Gen 2 chipset featured in the 13 Pro, the 14 Pro features UFS 3.1 for storage and LPDDR4X in RAM, which is impressive for its price, but the CPU isn’t good, honestly, for the price, but otherwise, it’s a capable chipset. realme claims that the phone also has support for 120 fps gaming in three major global games, providing the best experience for esports players.

The phone has GT mode borrowed from the GT 7 Pro to enhance the gaming experience and the phone has a 6000 mm² VC cooling, which is 33% larger than the previous generation, and the graphite sheet is 13490 mm² for the graphite sheet. It’s also an improvement compared to the 13 Pro, which had a 9500 mm² graphite sheet for cooling the smartphone.

Cameras

The realme 14 Pro gets an IMX 882 sensor with OIS, which is a decent upgrade over the 13 Pro, which had an LYT 600 sensor, a monochrome camera, and a depth camera, which are useless. Honestly, for the price, realme could have at least put in an 8MP ultrawide camera. It would cost them a bit more, but the user might be a bit happy since he’s getting a real camera rather than a fake camera, which has 0 use.

On the front side, the phone has a 16MP selfie camera, and the phone has 1080p 30 fps on the front camera with retouch mode, which is honestly not good when the competition has better cameras. The 13 Pro had a 32MP selfie camera with 4K 30fps video recording, which was a better thing on the phone, and realme has removed this from the phone. The phone has a triple flash for good photos in the dark too, and thanks to realme UI 6, it gets a live photo, which takes a photo and a GIF.

Battery

The phone is equipped with a large 6000 mAh battery made from graphite instead of lithium-ion, featuring an ultra-high density of 804 Wh/l. The phone features 45W of SuperVOOC charging, which can take the phone from 1% to 50% in 36 mins. The phone has a 4-year battery guarantee, and the battery capacity is also enhanced compared to the 13 Pro, which has a 5200 mAh battery.

OS

The phone runs on realme UI 6 software, which is built on Android 15, and the phone features flux themes and live alerts on the smartphone to notify about the delivery status. It has AI Clarity 2.0, which makes the blurry shot a high-quality image, and with AI Snap Mode, you can capture a fast-moving object. The phone also includes AI Eraser 2.0 for removing unwanted objects on an image.

Pricing

The realme 14 Pro starts with the 8+128GB variant, which starts at ₹24,999, and the 8+256GB variant at ₹26,999. The pricing looks just bad. No ultra-wide and 16 MP selfie camera and Dimensity 7300 at 25k isn’t going to help.
