POCO Buds X1: Unveiling the Latest Audio Powerhouse

POCO released their new TWS earphone alongside POCO M6 Plus 5G. It is the second addition to POCO’s audio lineup is named the POCO Buds X1. The new TWS POCO released do stand out as they use a slightly tweaked design compared to POCO Pods and only come in a single Titanium colorway.

POCO Buds X1 was launched in India on 1st August and will go live for sale on 5th August. The true wireless stereo (TWS) earphones are equipped with 12.4mm dynamic titanium drivers and are said to offer up to 40dB hybrid active noise cancellation (ANC). The earphones have an IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance, although the accompanying magnetic charging case does not have an IP-rated build.

Design and build quality

The charging case has an oval shape and a matte finish that feels nice in hand and also will not attract fingerprints and will be resistant to scratches compared to glossy finish cases. There is also a LED indicator present on the front with the POCO branding present on the back. The case comes with a Type-C port that is positioned at the bottom similar to every single TWS. It weighs roughly 38 grams meaning you can easily Carry it in your pocket with ease.

while case a matte finish the buds have a glossy finish, so they are prone to fingerprints. The buds have an in-ear design meaning they don’t fall out easily from your ears. The buds also feature touch controls which you can use to play or skip or pause music and pick up or reject calls.

Connectivity and Pairing

The TWS comes with Bluetooth v5.3 with SBC and AAC audio codec present. The pairing process is very easy as it also has Google fast pairing support. To pair you have to remove the buds from the case and the light blinks to show that it is in pairing mode you turn on Bluetooth on your device and simply pair with POCO Buds X1 option. You can use the buds with multiple devices but it doesn’t lets you pair with two devices at the same time.

The bugs Turn on when you remove them from the case and you only need to put them back to turn them off. While not I use the buds automatically turn off after 10 minutes to save power.

Audio Quality

POCO Buds X1 comes with 12.4mm dynamic titanium drivers with a titanium-plated polymer. As reported by many reviewers the buds are decent in audio quality but there are some minor issues that can be managed with EQ.

But there is a reported audio leaking issue meaning others can hear the music at high volumes other than that the buds are decent.

Active noise cancellation and call performance

The buds come with Hybrid 40db ANC. The ANC can block ambient sound up to 46db. It does a good job. You can switch between the ANC mode, transparent mode, or no ANC mode. If has 60 ms low latency.

There is also AI ANC to help you listen to calls more clearly. With the quad mic setup and with the help of software the TWS does help you listen to your calls more clearly.

Battery

The earphones have a 45mAh battery that Promises 7 hours of standalone battery life without ANC. You can expect around 5 hours of battery life with ANC turned on.

The case comes with a 480mAh battery and It takes 2 hours to charge it fully with earbuds. It does promise 36 hours of battery life without ANC. It also features quick charge meaning you can get 2 hours of playback with 10 minutes of charging.

Conclusion

POCO Buds X1 are a good budget TWS as they come with ANC which few in its budget have got but there are also some features missing that others in this price range have like in-ear detection and dual pairing other than that the buds perform fairly well as they give good battery life and have a decent sound output which makes it a complete package at its price segment.
