Here are some of my first thoughts about Nothing 3a after taking it for more than 72 hours. Let’s get started and discover what 3a has to offer.

Design

Nothing has retained its signature transparent back, but last year’s plastic was swapped for hardened glass, making the phones feel more premium. Nothing 3A now comes with an IP64 rating, meaning it can handle dust and light water splashes (but don’t wash it in the washing machine).  But! Hey, you got a new essential key that works as a shortcut key for the new essential space.

The Glyph LED lights on the back and its customizable, and useful for notifications, ringtones, and even as a camera fill light. While not drastically changed, it remains one of Nothing’s most recognizable features.

Display

The Nothing 3A is equipped with a 6.77-inch AMOLED screen, which is big, smooth, and vibrant with a 120Hz refresh rate, making everything feel snappy. The real upgrade is the brightness levels, with a peak of 3,000 nits, and it’s visible under direct sunlight without an issue. The display is a nice improvement from the last generation.

Cameras

Nothing 3a is equipped with a 50MP main lens, an 8MP ultrawide lens, and a new additional 50MP 2X telephoto Lens this year, which should help with clearer, more detailed shots from a distance. The front-facing camera is a 32MP camera same as 2a but more improved.

if you take a lot of selfies and zoom photos, nothing 3A stands out in the segment.

Though there are some hiccups in processing, and all but mostly photos are good with good dynamic range and color reproduction. I’ll attach a few images for reference as well.

Performance

Performance is where I feel Nothing 3A lacks. These times nothing switched to Snapdragon instead of Mediatek.. the Nothing 3a comes with a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset and is equipped with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 Storage.

The variant I have is 8/256, and it’s performing well till now. Using social media feels snappy with no lag whatsoever. I haven’t tested any games, so I can’t talk much about it right now. I’ll talk about performance in my final review

Software

The Nothing 3a runs Nothing OS 3.1, which is based on Android 15 and includes three years of software updates and six years of security patches. Nothing OS delivers the most Android innovation without bloatware. Nothing OS is built around functionality, with customisation options that make sense to you. Turn down the distractions with a monochrome theme and concealed app labels, or explore the versatile new Nothing Widget collection. Small windows into your most frequently used apps and functionalities for a faster, more intuitive smartphone experience.

Essential Space, a new addon This year is nothing brilliant; move. Essential space works as your second memory, claimed by nothing, and I couldn’t agree more with that. The essential key takes a screenshot of the screen and keeps it in the essential space, and by the use of AI, it analyses the screenshot and reminds you of things or keeps a note of that, which is a great addition at the price point.

Battery

Nothing 3A comes with a 5000 mAh battery, and it remains unchanged just like the previous generation. The charging speeds also stay the same at 50W. The phone took 1 hour and 20 minutes to charge from 10 to 100 via a CMF 33W charger

Final Thoughts

Nothing 3A is a solid choice if you’re a camera lover and if you love the minimalistic approach. Nothing is known about their software, and I think that should be enough for people to understand what I meant. For the price of 24999, I feel Nothing 3A is a decent choice.

P.S.: This is just my initial impression. I haven’t fully tested the device yet.
