Samsung has announced the first tri-folding smartphone in South Korea, the Galaxy Z TriFold, and it appears that Samsung is on the right track with its innovative approach. The pricing is comparable to their Z Fold series, according to the converted pricing, which is pretty good for enthusiasts.
Design

Samsung has refined the Armour Flex hinge to meet the demands of the Z Tri-Fold, with two differently sized hinges and a dual-rail structure that works in harmony to create a smoother, more stable fold. This technology enables the screen panels to meet with a thinner gap, allowing for a thinner and more portable tri-folding smartphone. The titanium housing introduces a new layer of metal that protects the folding mechanism and resists over time. Additionally, the device’s frame is now protected by advanced aluminium armour too, and the tri-fold measures 3.3 mm when opened and 12.9 mm when folded, weighing 309 grams. It is available exclusively in a crafted black colour. The Z TriFold is IP48 Water and Dust resistant.
Display

The Galaxy Z TriFold has a 10-inch main screen when unfolded. The main display boasts a Dynamic AMOLED 2X LTPO Display with QXGA+ resolution with a 120 Hz refresh rate and 1600 nits of peak brightness, which is great, and the cover screen is a 6.5-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X LTPO Display with an FHD+ resolution, at a 120 Hz refresh rate with 2600 nits of peak brightness. The cover screen is protected by Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2. Both the cover and main screens make use of the large screen; it’s the first phone to have standalone Dex, and for more screens, users can also add a secondary screen with extended mode, enabling a dual-screen experience with a dual-screen monitor.
Performance
The Galaxy Z TriFold features the older generation 8 elite for Galaxy, which is based on the TSMC N3E process node and not the latest eight elite gen 5, which might be because of the production delays Samsung might have faced or because they wanted to cheap out on the CPU, and the Z TriFold features 16 GB of LPDDR5X memory, with Samsung offering two storage variants on the 512 GB and 1024 GB storage via UFS 4.0.
Cameras
The Z TriFold features an impressive camera system, including a 200MP camera with Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS), a 12MP ultrawide sensor and a 10MP telephoto, also includes OIS. The telephoto lens allows for 30x space zoom with 3x optical zoom and 10x digital zoom, for outstanding clarity. Additionally, the device is equipped with two 10MP selfie cameras: one on the cover screen and another on the main display. The device also supports 8K 30 Fps video recording thanks to the camera setup.
OS
The Z Trifold features the latest One UI 8 based on Android 16, and the phone might also feature the same upgrade system as the S25 Ultra, which would be seven years of OS upgrades and seven years of security upgrades on the phone, which looks perfect.
Battery
The Z Trifold features a 5600 mAh three-cell battery system, which has been placed on the three parts of the device for balanced power delivery and all-day endurance for the phone. The battery is larger than the cell found on the S25 Ultra, which makes it the highest capacity battery on a Samsung flagship. The phone features 45W of charging and can charge up to 50% of the device within 30 minutes, and supports 15W of wireless charging and the wireless power share function.
Pricing, Availability
The Samsung Z TriFold is set to be available for purchase on the 12th of December in Korea, followed by other markets including China, the USA, Taiwan, Singapore, and the UAE in the following months. According to GSMArena, the prices for the phone will be 3,594,000 Korean Won, which converts to 2.2 lakh in India and 2447 USD. These are the converted prices, not the final prices, but these prices are not that great.
