vivo V50 Expected Specs, Price & Release Date – An Exciting Upgrade?

vivo is soon launching the highly anticipated vivo V50, the most demanding smartphone from one of their popular series. The vivo V50 continues the V series’ recent success, gaining attention for three generations due to its excellent balance between performance and camera quality.

While the primary target is an offline audience, smartphones are getting better in the online market. Consider vivo V27, V29, V30, and V40, the company is trying to focus on a balanced approach towards the market and challenging the competitors.

The upcoming addition to the series is the new vivo V50. Unfortunately, however, there is no V50 Pro this time. We don’t know the reason behind the company’s decision on this, but we assume that the Pro model may create an impact on vivo X200 sales in the market. Hence, the company is focusing on a standard model only—V50. Let’s discuss what the new smartphone brings based on the rumors available.

Expected Specs of vivo V50

Initiating with the design, the physical appearance looks similar to the predecessor. The camera module the aura light placements match with the previous V40. However, not to mention, the colors are upgraded. The company is bringing two attractive colors: Rose Red and Starry Night. There is another standard black matte variant (Titanium Grey).

Coming to the performance, it will still feature the three-generation old Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC. Now, this is a big letdown, we do not expect the brand to pull off the same processor for three generations. Vivo V30 and vivo V40 had the same chip. With this, we expect that they control the pricing factor.

The vivo V50 will feature a 6.7-inch, 1.5K, quad-curved display, becoming the first V-series phone with the technology. It is expected to bring a massive 6000mAh battery clubbed with 90W fast charging. The company will maintain the device’s dimensions (expect it to be approximately 7.39mm thin). The new battery tech is helping in reducing the weight and thickness.

Coming to the optics, it features a dual rear camera: 50MP (Zeiss UW Angle) and 50MP (Zeiss OIS Primary). On the front, it has a 50MP Zeiss Group Selfie Camera with a 90° FOV. Each sensor supports 4K recording. While the camera hardware seems more or less the same as the predecessor, there are some software refinements for incredible photography.

The company primarily focuses on Wedding Portrait Studio Feature as an exclusive to India. There are several portrait modes, delivering flagship portrait experiences such as Cine-flare, Film mode with Wedding frame, Wedding LUTs, and Zeiss Multifocal portraits (23mm, 35mm, and 50mm). It also features AI Studio Light Portrait 2.0 for better night photography.

The other basic features include the Android 15-based FunTouchOS 15, IP68 + IP69 certification, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4. The smartphone is launching on February 17 in India. The smartphone is a rebrand of the vivo S20 from China, however, the S20 Pro is not coming as vivo V50 Pro in India this time unfortunately. The Pro model had potentially good camera hardware.

Concerning pricing, expect the base variant (8/256GB) to start at approximately ₹34,999. It is important to note that we do not have any idea about the pricing, it’s just a guess based on the previous launches. What are your thoughts on vivo V50?
