Thanks to the higher pricing, good phones in the midrange segment have crawled up to about 35K INR from the 25K-30K segment. Let’s dive in and find you the best smartphones under 35000 in this segment!
What can you expect at this segment?
- At least UFS 3.1 storage
- Properly optimized main camera experience, perhaps a telephoto too!
- Mostly premium build consisting of glass and metal
- Is usually an all rounder option
- Dimensity 8300 series or higher/Snapdragon 8sGen3 or higher for good enough performance
OnePlus Nord 5
This has been one of the most balanced devices from OnePlus in the Nord series segment. Every year before this, they had some or the other major compromise. This year, things have changed. It fits the phrase “Jack of all trades, master of none” extremely well. It has a good main and selfie camera, good build quality, clean design, excellent battery life and smooth software! There are some small annoyances about this phone, though. The silent price rise from ₹31,999 to ₹33,999 and the UFS 4.0 option not available are the two biggest ones I find.

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE
Samsung has unfortunately lost the plot point with phone offerings under 30K. Fortunately, Galaxy S24 FE isn’t the case for the most part. It has been equipped with a much better Exynos 2400e SoC, a decent set of triple-camera system and a feature-rich OneUI software experience.

OPPO Reno 13 Pro
This has to be one of the best phones under the 35K price segment in terms of cameras. Unlike the S24FE, this will have much better battery life, charging speed and a bigger telephoto sensor. The phone is powered by the Dimensity 8350, so it’s not the fastest, but it’s no slouch either.

POCO F7
POCO F7 is a gaming-oriented phone with top-notch focus on SoC, storage speeds, battery life and charging speeds. Additionally, the design is very unique and aggressive, while not going too overboard and funky. It’s priced at ₹31,999. A small but worthy thing to say about this phone is that you can find a decent amount of Custom ROMs, which are maintained in case you do not like HyperOS.

Xiaomi 14 CIVI
While it’s getting old, it’s still a capable phone under 35K INR. It’s possibly the only option you have if you love the Leica color science. It has a Snapdragon 8sG3 paired with UFS 4.0 storage, along with 50MP main+50MP 2x telephoto+12MP ultrawide camera lens. You can find this on the official Xiaomi website for ₹33,999, but it is available on Amazon for ₹26,999.

There is one other bonus option, but it’s slightly above 35K.
realme GT 7
This phone goes on sale on the official realme website with bank discounts for ₹36,999. It has a fast Dimensity 9400e, large 7000 mAh battery, a 2x telephoto lens and fast UFS 4.0 storage. You cannot really fault this phone at all except for the 2x telephoto lens without OIS and the lack of a good ultrawide. realme does not downgrade the software experience on their GT series, so that’s not a concern.
