The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge has been launched. It’s a slimmer version of the S25 series, launched in January 2025. It’s rated at around 5.8mm and weighs just 163 grams. The good news ends because of the pricing, which we’ll see.

Design

The Galaxy S25 Edge is the slimmest Samsung phone by thickness, and it weighs just 163 grams, and it all stands possible thanks to Samsung’s engineering team. Despite its slim profile, it uses the titanium frame that was previously used on the S25 series. For the protection of the smartphone, the phone houses Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 on the back of the smartphone, and the phone packs a unique design compared to other Samsung phones. The phone has two colors, which are Titanium Silver and Titanium Jetblack, which are good, and despite the thin design of the smartphone, it packs IP68 for water and dust resistance for the smartphone.

Display

The Galaxy S25 Edge features a 6.7-inch dynamic AMOLED 2x display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. Enjoy smoother animations and a better scrolling experience. The resolution of the display is QHD+ 1440 x 3120. The phone has a peak brightness of 2600 nits and comes with Samsung Vision Booster to achieve this brightness level in direct sunlight, and for the protection of the display, the smartphone packs Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, which utilises thinner materials while maintaining the strength

Performance

The S25 Edge is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite, specifically designed for the Galaxy Edition. As the name suggests, this is a customized version of the 8 Elite featuring higher clock speeds and utilizing TSMC’s 4nm manufacturing node. Despite featuring a slimmer design, the smartphone still features the 8 Elite, and to keep the 8 Elite cool in the slim form factor, Samsung has reconfigured the vapor cooling chamber that is now thinner and broader for steady heat dissipation. Let’s hope the cooling system is sufficient to cool down the 8 Elite

The Galaxy S25 edge and the chip also have on-device AI, which features efficient and advanced image processing thanks to Samsung’s pro scaler, which delivers a 43% improvement in display image scaling quality while housing Samsung’s customised digital natural image engine (mDNIe).

Camera

The Galaxy S25 Edge features a dual camera array with a customized 200mp sensor, which is specifically designed for a slimmer chassis, and a 12mp ultrawide camera with a maximum zoom range of 10x and optical zoom up to 2x enabled by cropping pictures from the sensor with OIS support and video recording capability up to 8k @ 30 fps. With the Pro Visual Engine, enhancing the picture with more colours and details, making it great. With the help of the audio eraser, you can filter out unwanted background noise from the videos. The Galaxy AI fine-tunes the audio by adjusting different types of sound, like wind, music, and much more.

Battery

The S25 Edge is equipped with a 3900mAh battery, and Samsung claims that the phone can last all day, but we think it might be a gimmick since the S25 Edge features a bigger display that requires more power. With pioneering mDNIe technology built into the custom-made AP and software optimisation, the phone has 25 W of super-fast charging supported, so we can expect the phone to get from 0 to 50% in 30 minutes.

OS

The S25 Edge is powered by the One UI 7. It has a lot of AI features like the Now Bar, which is good as it shows the music player and the charging status of the phone in a small bar, and with a personalized Now Brief showing you the energy score and reminders of a busy schedule, the personal data engine combines and processes the primary data and provides tailored suggestions, and the data is stored securely. In Knox Vault, you can customise the Galaxy AI to process the data either in the cloud or on the device. The phone now features a new home screen that allows for highly customizable layouts and redesigned widgets.

Pricing and Summary: Galaxy S25 Edge

The Galaxy S25 Edge comes in two variants. The 12 + 256 GB variant is priced at INR 1,09,999, and the 12 + 512 GB variant is priced at INR 1,21,999. For a limited time, you can purchase the 12 + 512 GB variant at the same price as the 12 + 256 variant. The phone looks good, but the battery isn’t that good, and the pricing is the main culprit here. It’s priced higher than the S25+, which has a better cooling solution, better camera tech, and a bigger battery, but it’s around 30-40K cheaper, and as usual, Samsung priced it too high; otherwise, if priced reasonably, it might be good.
