Last week realme unveiled their brand new midrange series, the 14 Pro series consisting of two devices, the 14 Pro and 14 Pro Plus primarily competing with the Redmi Note 14 series which launched last month. Here we are comparing the top-end devices of these companies, namely the realme 14 Pro+ and Redmi Note 14 Pro+.
Both the devices come in a similar price range and offer similar specifications like a big AMOLED display, a triple camera setup including a dedicated telephoto camera, a huge battery fast charging, etc.
Comparison of Specifications:
Design and Display:
The Pearl White colour of realme 14 Pro+ consists of a colour-changing glass back which gives a shade of blue at temperatures below 16 degrees Celsius. On the other hand, the Redmi note 14 Pro+ comes with a normal glass back. Both these smartphones come with a sleek design with a centered protruding camera module.
The realme 14 Pro+ features a 6.83-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, a Gorilla Glass 7i protection with 1,500 nits of peak brightness. The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ has a slightly smaller display, featuring a 6.67-inch 120Hz AMOLED screen with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection and brighter 3,000 nits of peak brightness.
Both smartphones feature an in-display fingerprint scanner, and IP68 and IP69* certifications. While the display on realme is a QUAD curved display, the Redmi has a traditional 3D Curved display.

Performance:
Spec-wise, both realme 14 Pro+ and Redmi Note 14 Pro+ are powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor with up to 12GB LPDDR4X RAM and 512GB storage.
Performance surely ain’t the key aspect of both these devices, as the system on chip offered is just average for its price. That aside, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 is good enough for daily tasks like browsing through social media or even light to medium gaming.

Software:
The realme 14 Pro+ comes with realmeUI 6.0 based on Android 15 while Redmi Note 14 Pro+ comes with HyperOS 1 based on Android 14 which in itself is an instant advantage for realme. The latter should have come with the latest HyperOS 2. But Redmi evens it out with updates as it comes with 3 years of software updates while realme comes with two.
Both these software are rich in features and have both pros and cons. These skins offer a pretty stable experience and should be good to go in the long run.

Battery and Charging:
In terms of battery, the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ has an edge over realme 14 Pro+ by offering a 6200mAh Silicon Carbide battery along with a 90W fast charging which is a substantial decrease from the previous offering of 120W. The realme 14 Pro+ offers a 6000mAh Silicon Carbide battery with 80W fast charging.
Both these devices would easily offer over a day of juice even under heavy usage thanks to the massive cells they come with and should be very good in the longer run.
Cameras:
The main feature of both these devices is the camera specifications offered. The setup is pretty clear. Both have a triple camera setup with a 50MP main camera with a sensor size of 1/1.55″ with OIS, an 8MP ultrawide, and a telephoto camera.
realme offers a better telephoto camera with a periscope mechanism with 3x optical zoom which can go up to 100x digital zoom. On the other hand,d Redmi offers a telephoto with 2.5x optical zoom and no periscope mechanism.
realme consistently beats Redmi in most of the outputs due to the very poor processing of Redmi in a lot of areas, especially Zoom. The small sensor size of Redmi’s telephoto also makes a hit in this. Redmi needs to fix many of these issues as it can be fixed by an OTA.

Conclusion:
Both these devices offer each other a strong competition being similar in a lot of areas and competing on others. Redmi needs to fix the inconsistent outputs in a lot of areas to compete with realme, considering it is a camera-centric device and is priced higher than realme.
The realme 14 Pro+ starts at Rs 29,999 for the base variant while Redmi Note 14 Pro+ starts at Rs 30,999 for the same variant.
