The Lava Storm Play seems to be looking like a great budget phone, and it is priced at ₹9,999 with flagship-level RAM and storage type, which is the UFS 3.1 storage type and LPDDR5 RAM type for the smartphone. It features the Dimensity 7060 and a cool dual-tone design on the smartphone.

Design

The Lava Storm Play features a cool, stylish dual-tone design for the camera setup. The main camera sports one colour, and the flash setup gets another colour to make it look great. The phone features a sleek 8.3mm body and weighs 193 grams. The phone comes in two colours: Dune Titanium and Frosty Blue, and the phone also has IP64 for dust and water resistance.

The Storm Play features a 6.75-inch display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and HD+ resolution. It features a water drop design, which is decent for a phone in the ₹9999 segment, considering that Lava has gone all routes to equip this phone with good performance. The 120Hz refresh rate seems to be great for the smartphone. The phone features a 90.4% screen-to-body ratio with a standard brightness of 600 nits and a peak brightness for the display of 750 nits. The phone also comes with Widevine L3 certification.

Performance

The Lava Storm Play is equipped with the Dimensity 7060 chipset, which is the first phone from India to feature this chipset, ensuring excellent performance with a respectable Antutu score of 500k, which is great for a 10k phone. The phone comes with 6 GB of RAM on the base variant, which is excellent. It’s the first phone under 10000 to get LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. It should make the phone look smoother than the competition, and it’s great to see budget phones are finally getting improved performance. First, the Infinix Note 50X and this phone are targeting budget gamers so that they get excellent performance from their phones.

Cameras

The Lava Storm Play features a 50 MP camera, which is a Sony IMX 752 sensor. The sensor seems to be a new sensor with a 2 MP depth camera and an 8 MP shooter for the front camera, and the phone also gets 2K video recording support at 30 fps. The camera setup looks decent for a 10K phone, and we have to see if Lava has optimized the camera sensor for great pictures or the post-processing for the photos.

Battery

The Lava Storm Play features a large 5000 mAh battery with 18W of charging power, which can charge the phone to 50% in 45 minutes. Yes, it’s slow, but hey, it’s still better than the competition we’ve got, and when paired with the Dimensity 7060 chip, the battery life of the chipset is going to be great.

OS

The Lava Storm Play comes pre-installed with Android 15, which has zero bloatware and zero ads. Lava guarantees the phone will receive an upgrade to Android 16, and based on Lava’s history, the phone should get security updates for 2 or 3 years, which is again reasonable for the price.

Pricing

The Lava Storm Play starts at ₹9,999 for the 6/128GB variant, and it surprisingly has just one variant under the hood. The sale of the smartphone has begun. And I love the fact that Lava is targeting this phone towards the budget gamers who are looking for a great phone with a great enough chipset and a good storage option and RAM option, so they can play without any issues.
