The iPhone 17 has been launched, succeeding the iPhone 16, which was released a year ago. This new iPhone represents a significant leap forward in terms of everything right now. Honestly, it is the best iPhone I’ve seen in terms of upgrades and pricing.
Design

The iPhone 17 retains the design of the iPhone 16, but it increases the size of the phone because it gets an increased battery capacity, though it’s just 4% higher than the previous generation. The thickness is 7.95 mm, and the weight is 177 grams, showing minor changes. Overall, the upgrade is significant as it features a larger 48 MP Ultra-Wide camera and a slightly larger battery, which results in improved ultra-wide photos and higher battery life.
Display

The iPhone 17 features a larger display. This generation features a 6.3-inch display, an upgrade from the 6.1-inch display, and finally, we also get a 120 Hz ProMotion display here, and it’s great since it can dynamically scale from 10 Hz to 120 Hz depending on the use case, and we also get an always-on display too, which is great, and it sits at 1 Hz during the always-on display, which is going to save battery again, and we also get 3000 nits of peak brightness. That’s the highest ever brightness, with thinner borders on the display. It is protected by Ceramic Shield 2, offering three times more scratch resistance and an anti-reflective coating to the display.
Performance
The iPhone 17 is equipped with the latest Apple A19 chip, featuring an upgraded display engine that supports both ProMotion display and always-on display. It includes a new and improved 16-core neural engine. On the CPU, the design incorporates two performance cores and four efficiency cores, and it features Apple’s latest core designs, which should improve performance.
The new GPU has five cores, and according to Apple, it provides a significant improvement for graphics-intensive tasks. It is 20% faster than the A18’s GPU, and the A19 GPU has neural accelerators to run generative models on the device. The device comes with Apple’s own N1 modem for the wifi and Bluetooth. While still getting a Qualcomm X75 modem for the mobile networking, improving the speed and reliability of personal hotspots and AirDrop, while integrating the latest-generation technologies.
Camera’s
The iPhone features a new and upgraded 18MP Centre Stage front in a square layout, offering a larger field of view. Users no longer need to tilt the phone to take a landscape video or photo because they can take a landscape photo or video while holding it vertically, which is great for group shots. Centre Stage for photos uses AI to instantly expand the field of view and can rotate the picture from portrait to landscape to include everyone.
Centre Stage also enables ultra-stabilised 4K HDR video recording, and with dual capture, users can now record videos from both the front and rear cameras. That makes it easy to film an event while also capturing personal reactions. During calls on FaceTime or other apps. Centre Stage keeps the user stable and positioned in frame.
The iPhone 17’s rear camera also receives an excellent upgrade. While the wide camera is a 48 MP wide camera, the ultra-wide camera has been improved from 12 MP to a 48 MP ultra-wide camera, delivering up to four times the quality. And as usual, Apple says the wide camera is a 2x tele camera, and the ultra-wide is a macro camera as well, which is so gimmicky, and the rest is the same.
Battery
The iPhone 17, with the help of the new A19 chip and the improved power management of iOS 26, delivers all-day battery life. ProMotion offers up to 30 hours of video playback, which is eight hours more than the previous generation. The new adaptive power mode in iOS 26 also gets to know the user’s battery consumption and anticipates when they might run low, intelligently conserving power to help get them through the day. And iPhone 17 can charge up to 50% in 20 minutes with an optional USB-C power adapter like Apple’s 40W dynamic power adapter, up to 60W max.
OS
The iPhone 17 will come pre-installed with iOS 26 out of the box, which is great, and the Apple Intelligence in iOS 26 contributes to newer features. With visual intelligence, you can take a screenshot and ask about what’s in the picture, search, take action, and ask questions, and live translation helps translate what the other person is speaking on FaceTime, phone, and messages.
Pricing
The pricing of the iPhone 17 is actually great this year. Previous years’ pricing on launch wasn’t that great, and this time, with all these excellent improvements and Apple changing the base storage up from 128 GB to 256 GB while the pricing still hasn’t changed much, the new pricing of the phones is ₹83000, And the pre-bookings start from this 12th september from 5:30 pm and it comes with a ₹5000 instant cashback on eligible purchases, which further drops the price of the iPhone, making the prices really great.
