Xiaomi has officially confirmed that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will see a noticeable price increase, even in China, and Lu Weibing (Founder) says this cannot be changed.

The biggest reason for the increase in pricing is mainly memory costs, due to the heavy growth of AI users.
According to Xiaomi or their internal judgment, 2025 to 2027 will all be the years where the memory prices will go up, and memory inflation will impact Mobile costs, costing more than chipsets and cameras combined.
Founder Lu Weibing also said that when Xiaomi said the Xiaomi 15 Ultra was the last 6499 yuan ultra phone of theirs, memory prices weren’t counted in at the time.
With the 17 Ultra, memory costs have increased and are now far higher than expected, making the mobile price increase inevitable.
Still, he mentioned the final price increase will be lower than the actual cost increase, and Xiaomi is trying to ensure users feel it gives more value than it costs.
On the hardware side, Xiaomi 17 Ultra is set to come with big Photography upgrades:
- 1-inch main camera with 3rd gen LOFIC, delivering over 10 times improvement in dynamic range
- 200MP telephoto camera with a larger lens module than the 15 Ultra
- The telephoto lens cost is nearly twice that of last year’s 15 Ultra
- The telephoto lens is Leica APO certified, which helps in reducing purple or green fringing and improving sharpness and clarity

The founder also says this may be one of the most complex telephoto lens structures in the entire smartphone industry
For context, Leica’s APO lenses in traditional cameras are dramatically more expensive than non-APO ones, which shows how costly this upgrade is.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra is also confirmed to get:
- Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Chipset
- HyperOS 3.0 (based on Android 16)
- Signature circular Ultra camera design
- Global models will have satellite communication
- Exclusive professional photography grip accessory
Xiaomi 17 Ultra will cost more than any Ultra yet, but Xiaomi says the price increase is heavily due to real hardware and component costs, especially memory and the Leica APO telephoto system. They are trying to make a no-compromise Ultra photography flagship, but the component price hike is causing some trouble
