The Redmi Note 15 has launched in India, and it’s an upgrade to the Note 14, which was previously launched in January of 2025. Let’s check if this is a good upgrade over the previous generation.

The Redmi Note 15 features an upgraded square camera layout that resembles the designs of the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Plus, which is a positive change. The thickness of the phone has been reduced from 7.99 mm to 7.35 mm and weights 178 grams, which looks great. Additionally, the smooth-textured back reduces fingerprints on the case, ensuring the phone always looks fresh. The smartphone has MIL-STD 810H military certification and offers IP65/66 support for dust and water resistance. Furthermore, the device is equipped with dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos and Xiaomi audio tuning.

Display

The Redmi Note 15 features a 6.77-inch curved AMOLED display with 3200 nits of peak brightness and 800 nits of typical brightness with up to 120 Hz of refresh rate, and the phone comes with a 480 Hz gaming touch sampling rate. Redmi Note 15 also has 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, and the PWM dimming rate has been increased from 2160 Hz to 3840 Hz PWM dimming rate, which is a good improvement. It also means that the display will give less strain to your eyes while watching content in dim light.

Performance

The Redmi Note 15 features a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, which is a welcome improvement over the previous Dimensity 7025 Ultra, and according to Xiaomi, the 6 Gen 3 features a 30% faster CPU and 10% faster GPU compared to the older generation. While it looks like a decent option when you look at the pricing of the phone, the performance-to-price ratio doesn’t look good, but it’s good to see them upgrading the CPU finally, and it could finally give the device 4k 30fps video recording rather than the 7025 Ultra’s 1080 30fps recording for the price, and to cool the CPU down, Xiaomi has a cooling system.

Cameras

The Redmi Note 15 gets a 108 MP sensor instead of the usual 50 MP sensor that we see in the Note series, which is an improvement, and thanks to the processor upgrade, finally, the Redmi Note 15 can record in 4K 30 fps. For the second camera, it features an 8 MP ultra-wide camera, which doesn’t look good in the price segment they are entering with the Note 15; maybe a 12 MP ultra-wide would look good, and the 20 MP selfie camera and the phone support pro mode if you want to capture great shots with the device and come with AI features like AI erase, AI reflection removal, AI sky, and AI bokeh.

Battery

The Redmi Note 15 features a 5500 mAh Si/C battery, according to Xiaomi, which is designed to withstand 1600 cycles of charging. The phone supports 45W of fast charging and can deliver 18W of reverse charging via USB, allowing you to charge a friend’s phone if needed.

OS

The Note 15 comes with HyperOS 2.0 pre-installed, which is disappointing since HyperOS 3 is already available. It doesn’t make sense. The phone comes with 4 OS upgrades and 6 years of security upgrades. It’s concerning that when the device receives HyperOS 3 in 2-3 months, it will only provide 3 OS upgrades with 6 years of security upgrades.

Pricing

The Redmi Note 15 is priced at Rs. 22,999 for the 8/128GB and 8/256 variant at 24,999, and with the offers, it comes down to 19,999, and 21,999 for the 8/256 variant, while you might think, “Yeah, it’s a decent enough pricing” but when you look at the competition, it’s just not good since some devices have a better price and a better processor, and some even have a better camera setup, like the CMF Phone 2 Pro. The phone also comes with 6 months of 100 GB of Google One, 2 months of YouTube Premium and 3 months of Spotify Premium. The sale for the Note 15 starts on 9 January 2026.
