realme launched the Neo 8 in China on January 22nd. It is an upgrade to the Neo 7, which launched a year ago. The phone looks cooler in design compared to the Neo 7.
Design



The realme Neo 8 features a transparent glass back design with an RGB design too on the back, which can be customized, and it has better-rounded corners, and the phone also comes with a metallic mid-frame, which makes sure the phone looks premium from the corners too. The RGB design is linked to the game to indicate real-time kills; it also supports functions such as incoming calls and a low battery indicator. The phone weighs 215 grams and measures 8.5 mm thick, which is impressive considering its massive battery. The phone comes in three colours: Origin White, Mech Grey, and Cyber Purple. The phone features NFC, an IR blaster, and a dual-speaker setup for excellent audio.
Display
The realme Neo 8 features a 6.78-inch Samsung M14 display with a refresh rate of 165 Hz. This display improves the display lifespan by 50% and screen efficiency by 26%. It boasts a maximum brightness of 6000 nits. It has 103% of the DCI-P3 wide colour gamut and features crystal armour glass for protection. Additionally, the game enhances frames per second speed by 27%, which helps in steering faster and more smoothly. Thanks to the new custom display chip, which offers an instantaneous touch sampling rate of 3800 Hz and a ten-finger touch sampling rate of 360 Hz. For the eye protection, it has eye-game eye protection and a hardware-level blue light filter.
Performance

The realme Neo 8 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, delivering strong performance with an Antutu score of 3.58 lakhs, according to Realme. It features UFS 4.1 storage and LPDDR5X RAM. A standout feature is the new GT mode, which enables users to adjust the temperatures and clock speeds without needing to root it. The mode utilises AI-based prediction of performance, enabling real-time adjustments to the chip’s frequency to manage temperature during gameplay. Realme also says that thirty games support 165 fps gameplay, including five shooter games specifically optimised for this frame rate. Realme also says that we can play PC games on our phone with 50+ verified games and cross-platform compatibility.
Cameras
The realme Neo 8 features a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom and 30x digital zoom. The phone also supports taking live photos in slow motion, which can be shared on social media platforms. The 50MP telephoto supports 3.5x optical zoom and 7x optical zoom. Additionally, the phone captures stunning images in bokeh mode. To enhance image quality, the phone includes an AI text correction mode that further improves telephoto shots by enhancing clarity. The selfie camera is a 16MP shooter that delivers great images. The phone supports video recording at 4K 60 FPS on the rear and 1080p 30 FPS on the front.
Battery
The realme Neo 8 features a massive 8000 mAh battery that Realme claims can last 5.6 hours while playing games at 165 Hz. The phone features 80W of fast charging, and it has bypass charging so that the power directly goes to the phone.
OS
The realme Neo 8 comes with realme UI 7 based on Android 16 pre-installed, and it comes with support for three major OS updates and four years of security updates support on the phone. The realme UI 7 features newer icons, a transparent fingerprint icon, and a frosted glass control centre. The sidebar runs two applications at once, so you can play games and use two other applications.

The realme Neo 8 is priced at 2399 yuan for the 12+256 variant, 2899 for the 12+512 variant, 2699 for the 16+256 variant, 3199 yuan for the 16+512 variant, and 3699 for the 16+1TB variant, which when converted to INR, are 31000 for the 12+256 variant, 37k for the 12+512 variant, 35000 for the 16+256 variant, 41k for the 16+512 variant, and 48k for the 16+1TB variant, which is great pricing, but these are converted prices, so the prices might not be the same when it comes to India.
