POCO X7 Pro Overview: The Impressive New Market King Under 30K?

POCO X7 Pro

POCO launched its much-awaited POCO X7 and POCO X7 Pro smartphones on January 9th in the Indian smartphone market. In this article, we will discuss the POCO X7 Pro smartphone, its specifications, and where it stands in front of the competition.

We have already covered an article for the POCO X7, which you can read here:
Poco X7 Overview: Budget Just Gets Interesting!

Build & Design

The POCO X7 Pro has a plastic back panel and frame. It weighs 198g and is 8.3mm thick. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i and is IP66 and IP68 rated. The phone has flat corners and will be available in Vegan Leather and glossy back panel finishes. The Vegan Leather is exclusive to the POCO yellow color variant. The rest of the variants come with a normal plastic back panel.

Display

The POCO X7 Pro’s display is a 6.67” 1.5K resolution flat AMOLED panel that supports a 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, and 68 billion colors. It brightens up to 3200nits while watching HDR content, whereas the peak brightness in HBM is 1400nits.

A flat panel is often considered the best choice for gaming purposes as it has fewer chances of accidental touches and it’s more durable too!

Performance

Here comes the best part of this device. It’s powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8400 Ultra chip based on 4nm. It’s an octa-core chipset with the following specs –

  • 1 core Cortex-A725 clocked at 3.25 GHz
  • 3 cores Cortex-A725 clocked at 3.0 GHz
  • 4 cores Cortex-A725 clocked at 2.1 GHz
  • Mali-G720 MP7 GPU

The Dimensity 8400 Ultra is a new and very powerful chipset that scores higher in AnTuTu than the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 and the 7+ Gen 3. Although the difference isn’t that big, you won’t complain about this phone’s performance.

Talking about the RAM and Storage, it has LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 Storage in all variants.

Camera

Talking about the rear camera, the POCO X7 Pro comes with a dual camera setup: a 50MP LYT600 main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. The main camera is capable of recording videos up to 4K@60fps.

The selfie shooter is a 20MP sensor that can record videos up to 1080p@60fps.

Considering that this phone is a performance-centric device, the camera specs are decent at best. If you want a better camera, there are other options available.

Battery & Charging

The POCO X7 Pro packs a 6550mAh Silicon Carbon battery and comes with a 90W charger inside the box. This huge battery capacity isn’t common and it will surely help in increasing the battery backup of the device and 90W charging will charge the phone fully within 1 hour. One thing to notice is that this smartphone launched in other countries with a smaller 6000mAh battery and POCO provided a higher capacity battery exclusively for India which is a great thing!

Software

The POCO X7 Pro boots on HyperOS 2, which is based on Android 15 out of the box. POCO promises 3 years of Android version updates and 4 years of security patches for this device.

HyperOS is known for its lock screen customisation ability. You can choose from multiple styles. Apart from the lock screen customisation, it is rich in other features too! It has all the basic features and most of the trending AI features.

Price and Availability

The POCO X7 Pro will be sold in India online through Flipkart. It will be available in three colors – Nebula Green, Obsidian Black, and Yellow. The storage will be 256GB in both variants. Here’s the price –

  • ₹27,999 for 8GB+256GB variant
  • ₹29,999 for 12GB+256GB variant

Discounts worth ₹2000 will be available on ICICI bank cards.

Competition

The main competitors of this device are the realme GT 6T/OnePlus Nord 4, POCO F6, and Vivo T3 Ultra. Every phone has its pros. As per the specs, this phone is best at performance considering the price but the other options aren’t bad either. You can choose any phone which suits your requirements!

Conclusion: Read this before buying!

While this deal looks tempting, let me tell you that multiple POCO X6 users reported heating and battery backup issues in their phones and those issues are probably not resolved yet. My suggestion would be to wait for some time for the actual reviews to come out so that you don’t end up regretting your purchase. The first sale starts on January 17th at 12 PM.
