The OPPO K14x is a successor to the K13x launched last year, but I am uncertain if it should be called a successor since OPPO has made a lot of changes, most of which are negative this time.
Design

The OPPO K14x features an upgraded design compared to its predecessor, the K13x. While the thickness and weight of the smartphone have been increased, it now has a larger battery capacity, boosted by 500 mAh. Although this improvement isn’t particularly significant, the new model introduces two elegant colour options: Icy Blue and Prism Violet, which are a refreshing change from the colours of the previous generation. The IP ratings have been downgraded from IP65 to IP64, which is now safe against splashes of water.
Display

The OPPO K14x features a 6.75-inch LCD with a 120 Hz refresh rate and a typical brightness of 700 nits. This represents a downgrade from the 850 nits of typical brightness on the predecessor. However, the K14x offers an impressive peak brightness of 1100 nits, an improvement over the 1000 nits we previously achieved with the K13x, which is great. While everything looks good in the display, the display has more bezels than the previous generation, which makes the phone appear somewhat unappealing.
Performance
The OPPO K14x features the Dimensity 6300, which is the most used processor in the segment, and it features UFS 2.2 and LPDDR4x for RAM and storage type, and it features RAM expansion technology, and AI Game Boost smartly allocates processing power to keep gameplay smooth even in long, high-intensity conditions, which helps the gaming performance of the smartphone. The AI Linkboost helps the smartphone to get excellent network coverage and performance even in weak signal spots and changing conditions, and the phone comes in 4/128 and 6/128 configurations.
Camera
The OPPO K14x features a basic 50+2MP mono camera setup, which is okay for the price they are targeting, while the camera setup is downgraded from a good 8MP camera to a 5MP camera, which is unacceptable for the price segment since we have better phones that have better front cameras, and a 5MP camera in 2026 isn’t unacceptable since now mostly the phones under 10k also have 8MP selfie cameras, and it has AI features for photos like AI Perfect Shot, AI Recompose, and AI Eraser.
OS
The OPPO K14x comes preinstalled with ColorOS 15, which is based on Android 15 out of the box, which again isn’t that good because the K series usually gets two major OS upgrades, and with ColorOS 15 preinstalled, it might become 1 OS upgrade, which at the 15k segment isn’t that great, and I am guessing the phone should get the ColorOS 16 upgrade before March or April of this year, the phone will get 1 OS upgrade and 3 years of security patches.
Battery
The OPPO K14x comes with a massive 6500 mAh battery, which, according to the company, can last up to 10 hours of MOBA gaming, which is great for the battery size, and the phone also supports reverse wired charging and 45W charging support with 33W of PPS support for the smartphone.
Pricing
The OPPO K14x is priced at 14,999 for the 4GB RAM and 128GB storage variant, and the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant is priced at 16,999. There is a ₹1,500 instant discount on major bank credit cards, which further brings the price down to around 13,499 for the 4+128 variant and 15,500 for the 6+128 variant. While the pricing seems reasonable, the competition offers more attractive options, making it challenging for the K14x to stand out. Although the pricing is decent with the current offers, it may not be as appealing once the promotional period ends.
