OnePlus has launched the Nord CE5, the successor to the CE4, which was introduced in July 2024. It features the Dimensity 8350 Apex chip, designed for performance-focused users and gamers, along with a massive 7100mAh battery.
Design
The OnePlus Nord CE5 features the same design language as the Samsung A series; however, OnePlus has increased the battery capacity by approximately 1600 mAh, and the phone is slimmer than the previous generation, which is quite impressive. Additionally, it offers three colour options: Nexus Blue, Marble Mist, and Black Infinity. However, there is a downgrade in speaker quality, as it now features a single bottom-firing speaker instead of the dual stereo setup on the CE4.

Display
The OnePlus Nord CE5 features a 6.77-inch AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, support for Ultra HDR with support for HDR10+ out of the box and 1300 nits of HBM, which is a great improvement since the Nord CE 4 had around 900 nits of HBM screen brightness and a peak of 1430 nits while watching HDR content. The phone has support for HDR and HD on both Netflix and Prime Video out of the box, which is excellent for users who are getting this phone to consume media content, and a touch response rate of 120 Hz out of the box and will get 300 Hz with an OTA update.
Performance

The OnePlus Nord CE5 is powered by the Dimensity 8350 Apex chipset, which brings in a massive improvement of 79% over the previous generation’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. You could play games at a smooth 120 fps in BGMI and CODM, and we got improvements in RAM type since the phone gets the LPDDR5 RAM compared to the previous generation’s LPDDR4X. The phone features a cryo-velocity vapor chamber with a length of 7041 m², cooling area that keeps the CPU temperatures lower and helps the user get stable frame rates. The phone has a HyperBoost gaming engine and a championship mode, which tunes the phone for good performance while you game.
Speaking about the network connectivity, the phone also has support for 5G advanced, which was present on the OnePlus 13, so we can expect a boost in the network performance while using the 5G network, even in congested areas.
Camera
The Nord CE5 features the 50MP LYT 600 with OIS support for great stabilization for the videos, an OVD810 8MP camera for the ultrawide camera, and an IMX480 16MP front camera. The only changes the phone might have gotten are via the new chipset’s better ISP than the 7 Gen 3, allowing the phone to capture videos at 4K 60fps rather than the 4K 30fps footage that the CE4 could capture and 1080 60fps on the front camera, support for ultra-HDR live photos, and support for OnePlus AI, which brings in a lot of AI features for the camera like AI reframe, AI eraser, and a lot more.
Battery
The OnePlus Nord CE5 features a massive 7100 mAh battery, which is a significant upgrade from the 5500 mAh battery the Nord CE4 packed, and it features the 80W SuperVOOC charging technology. Thanks to the 80W charging and the large battery, a 10-minute charge, according to OnePlus, can give you 6+ hours of YouTube and 2 hours of gaming time. And thanks to the battery health feature on the OnePlus, the phone should retain 80% of its capacity after 4 years, too, which is great if you plan to use this phone for a long time.
OS
The OnePlus Nord CE5 comes with OxygenOS 15 on board and should receive four major Android updates and 6 years of security patches. This is again a significant upgrade because the previous generation would give us two major updates and 3 years of security updates. The phone packs a lot of AI features on board, like AI voice scribe, AI translation, AI call assistant, and a lot more. It has support for open canvas, which supports flexible resizing, drag and drop files and refreshed floating windows.
Pricing
The OnePlus Nord CE 5 comes in three variants, notably the 8+128, 8+256, and 12+256 variants, and these would cost you ₹24,999 for the 8+128GB variant, ₹26,999 for the 8+256GB, and ₹28,999 for the 12+256GB variant, and there’s a ₹2000 instant discount on non-EMI transactions and ₹2250 on EMI transactions, making the price go down to ₹22,999 for the 8+128, ₹24,999 for the 8+256, and lastly ₹26,999 for the 12+256 variant. Honestly, the pricing is great, and it’s great to see OnePlus giving us 8+128 as the base variant, and the sale for the smartphone starts on the 12th of July at 12 a.m.
